The Story of bakbakcyun
It all began with our stubbornness in building furniture for ourselves, we were drawn by the fascinating world of woodworking and has went on to design and craft durable, sustainable and aesthetic furniture with our own hands.
The Beginning
~We are a woodworking store stubbornly sells only what we make~
Having started living in Peng Chau in 2017, we explored to build simple furniture for ourselves, back then when options in the market were either way unaffordable or less thoughtful in its designs. We then went on to receive more schooling on woodworking and spent 3 years establishing our own workshop.

Drawing inspirations from what we need from our everyday life, we explore how life could be made easier with our imagination and crafty hands. We stick to the use of finest quality real wood and take durability as our priority in contrary to cost reduction.
Our spirit is heavily influenced by another realm of service we offer, repair works. By laying our hands over pre-loved antique chairs and worn-out leather goods we study how things are made and how modern manufacturing has considered cost too much to an extent that they sacrifice its durability. And from there we learn extensively on how we could make things last. All our products are built considering it has to be used for a decade at least.
Crafting & Our Space

At our workshop in Peng Chau, we personally design and craft all our products. We are particularly interested in bring the three materials we work with together, wood, fabric and leather
Our workshop doubles as a retail store, where we exclusively sell the products we design and manufacture on-site. We're proud to offer a unique experience by consolidating the entire production chain, from design to marketing and retail, under one roof.

The people around us is what we care the most. We progress by giving an opportunity to those who see things from its inner-beauty, those who wish to enter the world of woodworking, through classes and work opportunities. We hope we could revitalise a once prosper industry of Peng Chau and Hong Kong.
The essence of woodworking is on its aesthetics and build quality, not flamboyant marketing language and fancy product packaging. Our products reflect how we regard the craft, we strive to design and craft the best product rather than making mediocre consumables.
